THE SYMBOLISM OF THE NUMBERS – I

Pitagoras was the first to teach the esoteric side of the science of the numbers.

The Greek philosopher that lived up to 497 BC, passed several years in Menfis' Hermetic Temples studying the Egyptian mysteries

The science of the Egyptian, heirs of the Atlantis, allowed Pitagoras to found the School to teach what learnt.

The members of his School tried to live an austere life, they had an elevated morale and believed in reincarnation.

Pitagoras and their disciples discovered, already five centuries before Christ, important laws of the Mathematics: multiplication board, decimal system, theorem of the square of the hypotenuse.

Pitagoras expressed thus about the numbers: “The numbers govern the world. The number is the soul of all the things. The Unit is the creator element of everything”.

The well-known occultist Blavatsky also recognized the value of the science of the numbers: “The stair of the wisdom has the steps done of numbers”.

We will study in this series of Messages the symbolism of the numbers, and later we will know the numerology that treats of the  influences of the numbers in the character and in the people’s destiny.

Z E R O

The ZERO symbolizes the anything, the vacuum, the blank space, the not-existence.

Before there was the emptiness, the primitive chaos previous  to the Creation.

In fact, the space is not empty, but full of cosmic energies, of where God can create what wants.

God, so, created all the things from the blank space

The vacuum, the chaos that there was before the Creation was something in latent state, in potential.

In divinatory numerology  does not use the number zero.

O N E

The number ONE is the symbol of God, the Creator, the Principle and Beginning of all the things.

The unit is indivisible and also represents the atom and the cell.

The Universe word (Unit+(di)Verse) already demonstrates that the Diversity cane from the Unit.

Humberto Rohden says:

        “Unit without diversity is monotony.

         Diversity without unit is chaos.

         Unit with diversity is harmony”.

Little we can know about this number once that represents the Creator.

The number TWO symbolizes the opposites, the antagonism, the unbalance, the doubt.

Thanks to the duality we can comprehend better the unit, and  to appreciate the Well is  necessary to know the Evil; if were not the Darkness would be impossible to understand the Light; the Justice is more valorized the more know the Injustice; the Happiness is more appreciated for who passed for many sufferings and unhappiness.

The Initiated knows how to equilibrate both opposite forces, producing the balance, the unit, and in the unit finds the accomplishment and the perfection.

The two is the number of the doubt; it is presented when has to choose input two paths or between a thing and another.

In the Bible we read: “Contemplates, therefore, all the works of the Very High; all introduces to the pairs one in front of other” (Eclesiastes, 33,15).

The life in the Earth is influenced by the day and night; the light and the shadow.

The animals and the human beings is presented in two sexes: male and female.

According to the religions and exoteric philosophies there are two worlds: the material and the spiritual; and the man has two bodies: the physical body and the spiritual body.

The man is going developing and improving itself input two poles: the life and the death.

The vitals organs have two rhythmical movements: the heart has sistole (contraction) and diastole (distention); the lungs has the inspiration and the expiration.

We observed the Duality also in Well and the Evil, the happiness and the sadness, the action and the reaction, the positive and the negative, the heat and the cold, the asset and the liability.

T H R E E

The THREE represents the Divine Trinity that manifests or given to know under three aspects: Creation, Preservation and Transformation.

These three God natures (create, keep and to destroy) are well-known in all religions:

India (Hinduismo):  Brahma, Vishnu and Silva

              Egypt:  Osíris, Isis and Horus

              Persia:  Mithra, Ormuzd and Ahriman

              Caldeia:  Anu, Bel and Laugh

              Fenícia:  Bal, Astar and Melkhart

              Greece:  Zeus, Apolo and Dionísio

              Scandinavian:  Odin, Freya and Thor

              Celtic: Aesar, Anu-Mathar and Ouch.

The Divine Trinity is knower through the Christianity: Father, Son and Holy Ghost

The three agrees both opposite forces (positive and negative, asset and liability, the Well and the Evil, etc) equilibrating them.

The Unit is represented by a dot of where break two divergent lines (Duality), in other words an angle, and the triangle establishes the union between these two lines or divergent forces, harmonizing them.

The three represented by triangle, approximates the ends and is considered the number of the perfection because they produce the harmony of the opposed poles, it contains in himself agreements harmoniously two different and opposite qualities.

The superior man agrees in himself the kindness and the energy, the wisdom and the force, the happiness and the melancholy.

The three was considered a perfect number by the great Pitagoras and the Rose+Cross adopts the triangle as a symbol of your ideal that is to form the perfect man, the Master, the Initiated that agrees harmoniously in himself both opposite forces of the Universe.

In the Bible is very cited the number three: the boy Jesus received the visit of the three Reis magicians: Gaspar, Baltazar and Melquior that offered Him three presents: Gold for the King, Myrrh for the Man and Incense for God. São Pedro denied Jesus three times and in Mount of the Calvary were erect three crosses. Jesus resuscitated three days after his death. In São João, II-1, we read: “Answered him Jesus: “Demolished this Temple and I will upload it in three days”.

The three phases of the human existence: to be born, to live and to die.

The parts of time: past, present and future.

The three worlds and bodies of the Universe according to Rose-Crossess Online: physicist, astral and divine.

The dimensions of the space: length, width and height.

The three primary colors: red, yellow and blue.

The three parts of the human body: head, trunk and members.

The Kingdoms of  the Nature: mineral, vegetable and animal.

The three friars' votes: chastity, obedience and poverty.

The three humanity's superior wishes: the Well, Beauty, the Truth.

The masonic slogans:

To think well, to act well, to do well

            Freedom, Equality, Fraternity

            Wisdom, Force, Beauty

The three philosophical problems: Of where came? Who are? We where go?

The atom is formed by protons (+), neutrons (neutral) and electrons (-). The first two form the nucleus around rotate the electrons.

“The grown people adore the numbers. When do you talk them of a new friend, they never ask the essential: “Which the sound of his voice? Which are their favorite toys? Does he collects butterflies”? They always ask: “Which is his age? How many siblings he have? How much does he weigh? How much does win his faher”? Only then they believe to have known him.

“If you tell to the grown people: “I saw a beautiful home of pink bricks, with geraniums in the windouws and pigeons in the roof. ...”, they do not get neither to imagine this house. It is necessary to tell them: “I saw a house of a hundred thousand frank”. Then they exclaim: “As it is pretty”!

We called discipline a kind of miracle. With effect,  it is not miraculous that a man can carry hundreds of thousands of men to be moved, each one that, probably, not the esteem him, and individually he would not fear him and that, in spite of this have to obey him, come and go, march and detain itself, kill and same to die, as if the Destiny had pronounced the command voice, converted, literally, in a magic word.
