THE EVOLUTION THE THREE FUNDAMENTAL LAWS OF THE UNIVERSE – The Universe is governed by laws which we must know for our personal development and happiness. Evolution, Reincarnation and Karma are the three basic laws which our beloved students must always keep in mind, applying them to everyday living practices. These three basic laws are mutually dependent on each other and we will study them separately in order to help understand them. +
+ + Everything that exists in the Universe is permanently developing. The Law of Evolution impels everything forward and upwards. The symbol of the spiral is generally used to represent evolution as Nature’s progress does not follow a straight upward path but moves in an ascending rotation around its origin. Following this path we frequently encounter failure and decay. Still, these obstacles are only apparent inasmuch as after each fall comes a much larger climb than the prior backward travel. Involution or disintegration is framed within the law of evolution. When a form has reached the apex of its expression and has nothing new to show, its disintegration starts. All we have to do is remember the civilizations, races, animals and plants which a very long time ago dominated the Earth and now do not exist any longer or are slowly decaying. Nevertheless, a profounder study of the evolution of the races and civilizations will be made later on in another Message. By studying a schedule of the geological eras such as those found in Geology books will allow us to follow up the evolution of life. The first forms of life which appeared on Earth were very simple. As millions of years went by they became constantly more complex until they arrived at the most sublime form of life during the present terrestrial period – the man. This gradual evolution was accomplished with much sweat and blood. The law of natural selection never made any exception for any imperfect or useless form and destroyed it. The form was always destroyed, still, the life which stimulated it continued in a constant sway. The “law of the wild” is apparently merciless. Through the hostile environment the rude beings develop until they attain, for example, man, this being which has modified the environment for better and, sometimes, also for worse – dominating the other forms of life and forming civilizations where they group their different talents to make their lives easier and thus eliminating the difficulties of an isolated life. But selfishness and hate have made man continue his evolution together with pain and discontent. Ten years do not go by without cases of one country antagonizing another producing hundreds or thousands of deaths. In many countries the great landowners are little those who have nothing. Besides, individually very few make any effort to get rid of their vices and their erroneous way of living. As human beings do not take the initiative do try to improve themselves and consciously progress, the law of evolution takes care of that even if sometimes through painful processes.
