HEALTHY FEEDING – 1
The Rose+Cross
enjoys a veritably noteworthy health and the people to whom he relates in
acknowledging this vitality he sheds think that it is simply a quality that
he acquired since birth.
Nevertheless, those that so think are deceiving themselves. The occultist conserves his health and
youth thanks to the esoteric or scientific teachings that he receives and
follows with perseverance from his studies of the science of the
feeding.
Considering that health is the
basis of all human activity inasmuch as everything we wish to do depends on our health, you must study and practice the rosicrucian messages that we give on natural
feeding.
The healthy feeding is one of the
factors which most contribute to the regeneration of the physical body. Consequently, if you are
adopting harmful eating habits, we suggest that you think about the
principles of this message
inasmuch as many people who are
not members of any esoteric society have already understood the value of
healthy eating habits.
The greatest mistake of today’s
civilization in relation to nutrition is to avoid at an ever growing rate,
the natural foods considered only as a
supplement of the industrialized foods believed to be richer and tastier.
It is obvious that the industries
try to alter the natural
products. The more the products are passed through machines, hulling them, cooking
them, devitalizing them, that much more will be their profit and the
procurement of the products by the less knowledgeable who want “pure” foods –
these poor creature believe that the whiter or the more refined the product
the better its quality.
The same thing occurs in the homes
where the housewives spend the whole morning burning the foods or adding
seasoning which is harmful to the health.
When the food was deprived of all its nutritious value, of all its mineral salts and vitamins, when the natural taste was substituted for artificial seasoning they present what was left
over, a devitalized food of little nourishing value and this is presented to
the children and the husband.
We are
convinced that the housewives act thus in good faith in contrast with the
industries which generally know that their products have no nutritious value
but continue mass producing the
harmful foods in order to maintain their enormous profits.
The foods which contain all the
ingredients for perfect nutrition are
those natural, fresh, green, livings, raw, which did not come into contact with
fire.
Cooking destroys and wastes the
vitamins and the mineral salts. Therefore, if the Rose+Cross
does not take to some raw foods, or these have a disagreeable taste when natural, he can cook them just sufficiently so that
they can be ingested with pleasure.
All the animals
with the exception of man and house pets eat raw foods in n natural state.
That is why they do not suffer frequent sicknesses – in fact,
statistics prove that the sicknesses caused by deficient feeding increase
every day motivated by the disregard for this important rule.
At present, fruit, juices, are considered medicine and people pay high prices
at lunch counters for them. If people
consider the natural foods as
medicine, why do they not use this medicine to substitute their devitalized
meals remained so well conserved and free of sickness?
The naturist diet
is not another system of feeding among the dozens that exist,
it is the true and only way of feeding oneself.
Classes of Foods – Food
has two functions: to produce energy and to build or repair the tissues. It
is interesting to get to know the types of food:
a) Proteins – which serve growth and repairing of tissue. They are
found dairy products, eggs, soybeans, lentils.
b) Hydrocarbons (sugars and
starches) produce heat furnishing the organism with the capacity to
work. They are
found in the following foods: grains, potatoes, fruit and sugars.
c) Fats –have the same function o the hydrocarbons. They are found in butter, vegetable oils (canola,
soybeans, cotton).
d) Mineral salts.
e) Vitamins.
Fruit –
The best feeding for the human being consists of fruit. They are
excellent sources of vitamins and mineral
salts. The fruit produced locally is
fresher and cheaper than foreign fruit which is stocked for long periods and
loses part of its nutritional power.
Also, seasonal fruit should be preferred. It is tastier and more nutritional. Some examples of fruit: avocado, pears,
pineapples, bananas, persimmons,
guavas, oranges, apples, papayas, watermelons, strawberries, pears, peaches,
grapes.
Vegetables and Greeneries – They are
indispensable to nourishment and the student of the Rosicrucianism
will do well to include vegetables in his daily meals. Vegetables lose part of their vitamins and minerals when
cooked and any time they can be eaten
raw they should not be cooked.
Examples of vegetables and greeneries: watercress, chard, lettuce,
beet, chicory, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, spinach, turnips, radishes,
tomatoes.
Legumes – What we
said about vegetables is true, too, about the legumes
which are: beans, lentils, chick-peas,
pea-pods, soybeans, peanuts. The soybean is richer in proteins that milk and
meat.
Oleaginous –
Nuts, chestnuts, cashew nuts, coconuts, almonds, are
very rich in proteins but you must be moderate because they are very hard to digest if eaten in great
quantities.
Grains –
At present, wheat is taken out of its shell which contains its most nutritive
elements and these are given to the
pigs, chickens, ox, etc. And what is left over, practically only starch is
offered as “extra fine” food to
man. When we buy bread we should
demand whole wheat bread, called black bread. Also we can use rye, soybean or
wheat bread which are
more nutritive than the bread made from white flour. Numerous experiences
have proved that animals fed with
white flour die in a short time. On the
other hand those that are fed with
whole wheat flour stay alive and healthy.
Rice I also refined and polished
and deprived of vitamin B-1 which is an important element for the nerves
already o racked by our present way of life.
The best thing to do is only use whole rice or parboilized
rice.
Corn is also another very
nutritive grain which can be prepared in various manners.
Dairy Products – Milk is called the perfect food because it contains nearly all the
most essential elements for the organism’s necessities. It should not be missing from our daily
meals. Cheese should only be eaten if it is made from sour milk, without ay
foreign chemical substance such as those added by the various brands which are found on the market. Yogurt as a byproduct of milk has all its
nourishing qualities as well as having the quality of destroying the pathogenic
bacteria found in the intestines.
Honey –It
is excellent nourishment and a very good source of heat nd
energy as well as increasing the number of hemoglobin of the blood. Honey can be used to substitute sugar. In fact, we
recommend our students to use very little sugar
because it is an excessively energetic food and demands great physical effort
to be used up by the organism and it is very harmful for sedentary people.
