THE YOGA
Yoga is the doctrine and the practices that carry the union with God and
with the immortal Being.
Presently
all the religions seek the same objective.
The word
yoga derives from the Sanskrit yug that means to unite.
Pantajali was the creator of the yoga that exposes in
the book Yoga Sutras.
The main yogas are:
Hatha Yoga This yoga modality of yoga seeks the control of the physical body and
the equilibrium of the pranic energy,
It uses
the practice of postures called asanas and also the
practice of the conscious breathing: pranayama.
Hatha Yoga is the yoga of the physical body.
Raja Yoga search the domain of the thought. It is the yoga of the mind.
Karma Yoga is the yoga of the action and of work without the desire of reward,
but with the purpose of improving this world of God.
The
karma-yoga knows that all that happens is effect of our actions at present or
of the past, therefore it accepts the pleasing effects
so much as the unpleasant with resignation.
Who sows
harvests and the harvest is as with the seed. We can choose the seed (the
action) but not the harvest (the effect).
The
karma-yoga is active and extrovert and uses very the hands.
It is the
medical surgeon, the artisan, the plowman.
The
ideal, however, is the practice of all yogas, because
the man must become complete.
This is
the yoga of the action and reaction.
Bhakti Yoga search the evolution through of love, of the service to the neighbor
and the devotion to God.
This yoga
uses the prayer, the devotion to the Creator and the good works to improve the
civilization.
This is
the yoga of love; the path followed by the religious.
Gnana Yoga this is the way of that evolve through the search for the knowledge,
the wisdom is the path followed by the intellectuals, by the scientists.
It is the
yoga of the intellect.
Mantra Yoga uses the repetition of words considered powerful or magic to reach the
illumination.
The
Hebrews combined the letters to reach magical effects.
It is the
yoga of the sound (vibration).
Patanjali, the father of yoga, divides Raja Yoga, in
the Yoga Sutras, in 8 stages:
Yama Niyama
Asana Pranayama Pratyahara Dharana Dhyana Samadhi.
YAMA
The rules
of moral discipline indicated by Patanjali divided into abstinences (yama) and observances (niyama)
Abstinence
absence of the violence or hatred, imperturbability.
It
consists of five parts:
1 Not-violence (ahimsa) - Pacifism, compassion with all the living beings.
Do not
kill, inclusive the animals, and even same the vegetables (deforestation).
Because
of this advanced yogis are vegetarian, not eating anything of source animal.
Gandhi,
Buda and Jesus Christ taught and lived according to this principle.
The wars
are originated of the intolerance to the differences of customs of the other
peoples, besides the greed of a nation regarding another.
Respect
to the neighbor is the key of the peace and of the fraternity among peoples.
2 True (satya) Always to seek for the truth and to
talk always the truth. Also avoid talk badly of the others; if you have nothing
good to talk the best is to remain in silence.
The truth
may to offend some people, but the lie when discovery is worse.
3 Do not steal (asteya) Do not rob material things, as well
as ideas and inventions of the others.
We must
have patience and to conquer what we need through the effort and own work.
Each one
has your evolution degree like lived his passed incarnations, and it has more
or less easiness larger or smaller easiness and capacity of action in different
sectors of society.
4 Chastity (Brahmacharya) Do not talk, read or think in erotic
themes. Do not practice the sexual act as joy, but only for reproduction of new
beings. Cultivate the purity and the innocence.
The
sexual act is a natural function, should not be denied, but controlled.
The
chastity turns the Initiated divine.
5 Detachment (Aparigraha) Do not want material objects
with much passion and in excess. To avoid the consumerism,
the envy, the jealousy, the greed and the luxury.
Live with
simplicity.
NIYAMA
Observances
also consist of 5 rules.
1 Purity (Saucha) Clean or external and internal purity. Eat
pure, natural food, vegetarianism, clean house, baths and clean clothes.
Pure
thoughts, positive and elevate.
Examples
of thoughts and beneficial actions: tolerance, humility, friendship, etc.
2 Contentment (Santosha) joy of living, do
not complain of the life learning.
Live
happy with what you have and to work with ambition moderated.
Keep the
contentment when everything is doing well and also when the contrarieties appear, because the pain and the
difficulties are part of life, and takes us out of the indolence and inertia of
the routine.
3 Austerity (Tapas) Live with method and discipline and
not only for the pleasures and the leisure.
Life is
made of work and repose; live with equilibrium.
The
pleasures excess does not lead to the material or spiritual accomplishment.
4 Study (Svadyaya) It is the study and the practice of the teachings of
the great masters and the sacred writings, as the Vedas, the New Testament,
Koran, etc.
The
reading and the application of the teachings of the great men produce new ideas
and elevate the mind.
They show
new paths to follow, so much in the material science as in the spiritual
science.
But
neither all book, master or secret and esoteric society have something
useful or necessary for our evolution.
Also
refer to the study of the proper Being itself, through
internalization, meditation and concentration in the inner being.
5 Cult to God (Ishvara-Pranidhana) All initiated or
religious recognizes power of the Creator and always directs the thoughts to
the Divinity that created our solar system to receive her blessings.
Do not
blame God for your problems, He knows what lessons the
humanity, little developed, needs to reaching a place in the heaven.
Direct
their thoughts so much to the Solar Divinity, as to the Absolute that directs
our galaxy.
HATHA YOGA
The word hatha is formed by two syllables: HA (the Sun) and THA
(the Moon), and it signifies the union of the and the Moon, symbolic language for
the union or harmony of the positive and negative energies.
To have
health and happiness we need to harmonize these two polarities.
Most
people believe that yoga is only the hatha yoga
that is just the initial stage of the
yoga.
The raja
yoga, the yoga of the mind, is much more difficult than the hatha
yoga, and should be studied together, because we are composed of body and mind.
Patanjali was yoga codifier in the IIIth
century B.C.
In

PRANAYAMA
The
system of yogic breathing is called pranayama.
Prana is the absolute energy of the Universe; it is the source of all the energies
and produce all movement and life in the Universe.
Prana can be absorbed by the man through the food
and through the breathing.
The yogic
breathing search breathes consciously to improve its physical and mental
health.
Pranayama is a collection of respiratory exercises to
absorb prana, the vital energy.
The
retentions of the pranayama are not recommended for
those suffering from heart or lung.
Yogic Breathing
Before
starting any exercise of profound breathing, exhale the air from the lungs.
Complete
breathing:
1
Inspires slow and profoundly the air until fill all the lungs.
2 Retain
the air during some seconds imagining that is absorbing prana,
vitalizing the whole body.
3 Expire
slowly the air, imagining that the impurity and diseases of the body are
expelled.
We prefer
the breathing with 4 times, like nominated in the Message Rose+Cross
Profound Breathing.
It
consists of four times, roughly like this: 15-15-15-15 seconds, depending
on its pulmonary capacity, or of your size and height.
We
continue with the eight steps of the yoga.
Internalization (Pratyahara) consists to withdraw the senses
from external objects and sensations.
Reduce the
useless thoughts and the external sensations demand time and persistence.
The
practice of the introspection can start by the attention to the breathing,
observing it, without using the will, until it becomes more rhythmic and
profound.
The
artist, the scientist, the occultist, lives more internalized, in introspective
state more than the common people.
For them
the interior world is almost real as the outer world, indeed the mental world
is more real than the physical world.
When the
mind turns off of the physical senses the spiritual senses begin to awake.
Bhabharata compares the pratyahara
to a turtle: as well as the turtle gathers its members under the carapace, in
the same way the yogi withdraws the senses of the influence of the external
objects.
External
noises: it is easy to close the eyes, but the ears never close.
If you
live in a noisy environment: traffic, neighborhood and the family itself, use
cotton in the ears or muffled sound, as the used by the workers of noisy
industries.
The
sponge ear protector is the most effective, but sometimes
cover the exit of the wax of the ears and demands a cleaning with a
medical.

Concentration (Dharana) consists in the fixation of the
mind in a only object or theme.
During the
concentration should be
complete abstraction of the senses in relation the outer world,
besides the exclusions of thoughts not related to the purpose.
Practice
the concentration fixing the mind on flame of a candle, in the 3° eye (situated
among eyebrow), etc.
Meditation (Dhyana) It is the continuous and prolonged
stream of thought directed to an object until arrive absorb in it.
This mode
of reflection allows the yogi
to reach the knowledge of the material or abstract things.
In this state
the yogi reaches a super-consciousness and happiness total; in union with the
Creator, where there is not the duality between the knower and the known.
Meditate, for example, on a virtue until can
incorporates it in himself and to act like it.
The
religious also used to practice this kind of meditation.
Contemplation (Samadhi) it is the goal of the yoga, it is when the yogi gets if identify
with the object of the meditation.
Think
exclusively in a Master, Jesus,
Come in
on total tune with God, the Universe or our Sun.
